Joris en de draak - Efteling (NL)

In November 2017 I went to Efteling with a non-enthusiast friend. It was the so called Winter-Efteling at the time, on top of that we went in a weekend, therefore it was not quite quiet. We had two rides on the water-side of the park's GCI duelling wooden coaster. I knew this one was the one with the most airtime, but it surprised my because it was better than I remembered from previous visits. It is a small ride, but because it stays low to the ground it contains its speed really good. It is a action packed ride.

I have to say it does not look that good off-ride, but as always, do not judge a ride by its stats. Joris en de Draak is the best ride at the family-oriented park with heavily themed rides. Although the ride opened in 2010, the ride was not as themed as other recent additions to the park. It has some basic theming in the queue, like burned trees and a small swamp, referring to the medieval village endangered by a dragon who you have to defeat on the coaster with water or fire. As a person who can appreciate some good theming, I was pleased with these small features.

After all Joris en de Draak is a pretty good coaster, especially for Efteling, which deserves a good 7 out of 10 for total experience.
