Europa-Park (DE)

Europa-Park was a bucket list park for me ever since I first heard about it. It would be the best park in Europe, and it had even won the Golden Ticket Awards for Best Amusement Park for the last few years. It was would be a great and special park.

The park is very well looked after, the throughput of most rides is unbelievably good and the park is beautiful to walk around. When I went with a non-enthusiast friend, we had a great time. But I was not sure it was the greatest park ever.

The park has a great selection of ride types, there is something for everyone. The themed areas are done correctly. The main focus is just buildings though, and buildings are just not that interesting to me. It also does not help that some areas look like each other: Scandinavia and Iceland look very similar to me, to name an example.

Then you have the individual attractions, which were built with the best intentions, but the finishing is just not on point. Take Wodan's queue for example. It looks amazing, but when you look up in certain parts, you see pipes, ventilation, lights, projectors, and other things we are not meant to see, which is disappointing.

Some of the rides itself did disappoint me too. They have bad profiling or the rider is too loose in the seat, which makes it unpleasant or even painful to ride them. Poseidon and Wodan are examples of that.

Do not understand me wrong. You will definitely have a great time visiting Europa-Park. It is very nice and there is nothing wrong with the main things, the details are just not on the same level as some other parks. And for me, details are what makes a park special.
